Hyaluronic acid (HA) has been widely used for soft tissue augmentation. In this work, HA hydrogel microbeads were prepared by the crosslinking with 0.2 vol% divinyl sulfone in isobutyl alcohol and stirring at 200-400 rpm for 24hr at room temperature. The resulting microbeads were washed with distilled water. According to scanning electron microscopic analysis, the pore size decreased with increasing crosslinking density, which was highly dependent on the crosslinking time. In addition, the diameter or swollen volume of HA hydrogel microbeads in water was inversely proportional to cross-linking time. Key words : Hyaluronic acid, Microbead, In vitro swelling, Tissue augmentation
